Still Tingling

Saw Sunshine tonight. Note the header.

I can't tell you this movie was good. There's certainly a flaw in the premise. There's probably one in the science. The writing is smart but not brilliant, as is the acting. The sound effects are superb. The visualizations are superb. The direction deserves its own paragraph.

Danny Boyle of Trainspotting fame. The last time I left a movie feeling the way I still do, an hour after it ended, was when I saw Trainspotting.

This tells you almost nothing aboot the movie, but it was a tremendous ride.

Fant-Astic

I'm concepting. I'm waxing philosophical. I've got no motivation. Well, I have huge motivation. Just finished editing a revise of one of our books. But that's not why I'm posting.

Sometimes I wonder how much a good education gets in the way of honest philosophy. Is a person a better thinker because they know what other people have thought? Are their ideas, therefore, new? Or are they just rehashing the original ideas again, in a modern concept? In my musings, I wrote the following:

"It might be chance.

It might be fate.

Whatever it is, people make friends of acquaintances.

It might be because they work together. It might be because of some inner connection. It might be because they get trapped in a small elevator for hours. Or fifteen minutes. Or just three floors.

You’ll know why it begins. You’ll be able to say, after it’s begun, why it began. It’s not mysterious why it begun.

The mystery is that it began at all."

Sounds good, huh? But it's as pointless as this blog. Reality seems to be built on common sense, and whoever voices it first, gets the points. Someone should make a video game.
